THE PAINTING ACADEMY

While the politicization of images may be king today, painting, from the studio to the gallery, is nonetheless a domestic object in the making.

The Painting Academy presents nine artists whose work could be likened to a re-emergence of painting. The last few decades have been more than beneficial for the local artistic landscape, which has been distended, expanded and enriched by a multitude of new mediums.

The pictorial panorama is in turn refreshed by a freer, more innovative landscape, mischievously signalling the return of the world’s oldest medium.

Artists: Stéphane Nabil Petitmermet, Simon Salazar, Jon Merz, Leanne Picthall, Romane De Watteville, Hanna Rochereau, Martin Bonnaz, Gregory Bourrilly, Camila Oliveira Fairclough.
